Deleting a disk image

Deleting a disk image is an operation that cannot be canceled or reversed. You cannot restore a deleted image.

Deleting an image does not delete the VMs and disks created from this image. They need to be deleted separately.

    To delete an image:

    1. In the management console, select the folder the image belongs to.
    2. Select Compute Cloud.
    3. On the Virtual machines page, go to the Images tab.
    4. In the line with the appropriate image, click image and select the Delete command.
    5. Confirm deletion.

If you don't have the Yandex.Cloud command line interface yet, install it.

The folder specified in the CLI profile is used by default. You can specify a different folder using the --folder-name or --folder-id parameter.

    1. See a description of the CLI's delete image commands:

$ yc compute image delete --help
    2. Get a list of images in the default folder:

      $ yc compute image list
      | ID | NAME | FAMILY | PRODUCT IDS | STATUS |
      | fd8n3spmksqmuraspf4h | first-image | | | READY |
    3. Select the ID or NAME of the image you need.

    4. Delete the image:

$ yc compute image delete \
          --name first-image
