Managed Service for PostgreSQL pricing
In this section, you can find Managed Service for PostgreSQL pricing rules and effective prices for the service's resources.
To calculate the cost of using the service, use the calculator on the Yandex Cloud website or see the prices in this section.
Note
Currency of Service rates (prices) depends on the company you made a contract with:
- Prices in US dollars are applicable to customers of Iron Hive doo Beograd (Serbia).
- Prices in Russian roubles are applicable to customers of Yandex.Cloud LLC.
Cluster status
Pricing is applied differently depending on the cluster status:
- For a
Running
cluster, you are charged both for the computing resources and the size of storage and backup. - For a
Stopped
cluster, you are only charged for the storage and backup size.
Alert
If a cluster uses local SSD storage (local-ssd
), its computing resources are not released when it's stopped. This means that you are charged in full even for a stopped cluster.
What goes into the cost of using Managed Service for PostgreSQL
The Managed Service for PostgreSQL usage cost is based on:
-
Storage type and size (disk space).
-
The computing resources allocated to the hosts in the cluster.
-
Settings and number of backups.
-
Outgoing traffic from Yandex Cloud to the internet.
In all calculations, 1 GB = 230 bytes.
DB host usage
The cost is calculated for each hour of the host's operation in accordance with its class. You can find detailed class specifications in the Host classes section.
The minimum billing unit is a minute (for example, 1.5 minutes of host usage cost the same as 2 minutes). You are not charged for the time when the PostgreSQL host is not performing its main functions.
Disk space usage
You are charged for the following:
-
Storage allocated for DB clusters.
-
You can only order local SSD storage (
local-ssd
) for clusters with three or more hosts:- For Intel Broadwell and Intel Cascade Lake: In increments of 100 GB.
- For Intel Ice Lake: In increments of 368 GB.
-
You can only order non-replicated SSD storage (
network-ssd-nonreplicated
) in 93 GB increments for clusters with three or more hosts.
-
-
Space used by DB backups in excess of the storage amount specified for the cluster.
Note
The cluster's storage size is equal to the total storage size of all of its hosts.
-
Backups are stored free of charge as long as the combined size of the database and all backups is smaller than the selected storage size.
-
During an automatic backup, Managed Service for PostgreSQL does not create a new copy but saves changes to the database compared to the previous copy. This means that storage used by automatic backups increases only in proportion to the volume of changes that are made.
-
Adding hosts increases the cluster's total storage size and, consequently, the size of free backups.
-
The cost is specified for one month of use and is based on 720 hours per month. The minimum billing unit is 1 GB per minute (for example, storing 1 GB for 1.5 minutes costs the same as storing 1 GB for 2 minutes).
Discount for committed volumes of services (CVoS)
You can get a guaranteed discount on service resource usage when you plan for six months or one year ahead. To see the resources you can get a discount on:
- Go to Billing
. - Click on the desired billing account.
- Choose Committed volume of services in the left-hand menu.
A CVoS guarantees a discount on usage, but does not guarantee the availability of the resources ordered. You can read more about CVoS in the Yandex Cloud Billing documentation.
Managed Service for PostgreSQL provides two kinds of CVoS: on vCPUs and RAM on the hosts you plan to use in DB clusters. In the management console, you can see potential savings from using a CVoS at the current resource usage. You can also forecast your monthly payments for the desired number of vCPUs and RAM.
Note
You can use a CVoS to order certain types of resources. For non-supported resources, CVoS columns feature dashes under Prices. Currently, you cannot order storage or web traffic this way.
Pricing
All prices are shown without VAT.
The monthly usage rate is based on 720 hours a month.

Storage and backups
Note
When using standard hosts on Intel Ice Lake, access to local SSD storage (local-ssd
) is provided on request. Contact technical support
Service | Cost of 1 GB per month |
---|---|
Standard network storage | $0.025600 |
Non-replicated network storage | $0.070400 |
Fast network storage | $0.104080 |
Fast local storage | $0.104080 |
Backups beyond the storage size | $0.032594 |
Pricing for backup storage has the following specifics:
-
Backups are stored free of charge as long as the combined size of the database and all backups is less than the total storage size.
-
Adding a host increases the total cost per cluster. However, expenses for storing backups beyond the storage size will be lower due to the increased total storage size.
-
To reduce expenses for storing backups beyond the storage size:
- Reduce the retention period of automatic backups in the advanced settings.
- Delete backups created manually.
-
The total backup size is a sum of data copy and WAL sizes. The size of WAL data depends on the amount of made changes and is comparable to the backup size. You can get both values with a list of backups.
Egress traffic
When using the service, you pay for traffic from Yandex Cloud to the internet. Traffic between Yandex Cloud services and incoming internet traffic are free of charge.
The first 100 GB of outgoing traffic are provided free of charge every month.
The minimum billing unit is 1 MB.
Resource category | Cost of 1 GB |
---|---|
Outgoing traffic via NAT gateway, first 10 GB per month | Free |
Outgoing traffic via NAT gateway, over 10 GB per month | $0.012240 |
