Yandex DataLens is a business intelligence service. That lets you upload, process, and visualize data for analysing and testing hypotheses. It can help you make marketing decisions for your product.

To use an existing cluster as a data source for DataLens:

  1. Activate DataLens.
  2. Allow access to the cluster from DataLens.
  3. Create a connection to the cluster in DataLens.

Activating DataLens

Limit

You can only create one DataLens instance in the cloud.

To activate DataLens in your cloud:

  1. Select a folder on the cloud page.
  2. Select DataLens.
  3. Click Activate DataLens.

The DataLens instance will be activated in the selected folder.

Allowing access to a cluster from DataLens

To enable DataLens to connect to your cluster and work with its data, activate the Access from DataLens option when creating a cluster or changing its settings.

Creating a connection to a cluster

Management console
  1. Make sure that DataLens is activated in the appropriate folder and allowed to access the cluster.

  2. Go to the folder page and select Managed Service for ClickHouse.

  3. Click on the name of the cluster and select the DataLens tab.

  4. Click Create connection.

I don't have the "Create connection" button

If instead of the Create connection button you see a message saying "DataLens not activated", it means that you either haven't activated DataLens or connected it in a different folder. To connect your cluster to a DataLens instance from another folder, follow the instructions in the DataLens documentation.

  5. Specify connection settings.

  6. In the upper-right corner, select the connection scope from the drop-down list:

    • Available only to me.
    • Available to the company.
  7. Check that the settings are correct by clicking Check connection.

  8. After successfully checking the connection, click Create.

Once the connection is created, you can:

  • Update or delete this connection.
  • Create datasets with the cluster data using the connection.
  • Visualize the datasets using charts and dashboards.
