Pricing policy for Managed Service for Elasticsearch
Warning
Starting April 11, 2024, support for Yandex Managed Service for Elasticsearch is discontinued.
You can create OpenSearch clusters in Yandex Cloud as an alternative to Elasticsearch.
In this section, you can find Managed Service for Elasticsearch pricing rules and effective prices for the service's resources.
To calculate the service cost, use the calculator on the Yandex Cloud website.
Note
Currency of Service rates (prices) depends on the company you made a contract with:
- Prices in US dollars are applicable to customers of Iron Hive doo Beograd (Serbia).
- Prices in Russian roubles are applicable to customers of Yandex.Cloud LLC.
Cluster status
Prices are applied differently depending on the cluster status:
- For a
Running
cluster, you pay both for the computing resources and storage size. - For a
Stopped
cluster, you pay only for the storage size.
Alert
If a cluster uses local SSD storage (local-ssd
), its computing resources are not released when it's stopped. This means that you are charged in full even for a stopped cluster.
What goes into the cost of using Managed Service for Elasticsearch
The Managed Service for Elasticsearch usage cost is based on:
-
Elasticsearch edition used.
-
Computing resources allocated to cluster hosts (including hosts with the
Master node role
). -
Disk type and disk space.
-
Egress traffic from Yandex Cloud.
In all calculations, 1 GB = 230 bytes.
Using cluster hosts
The cost is calculated for each hour of operation of the host in accordance with the allocated computing resources and Elasticsearch edition used. Supported resource configurations are shown in Elasticsearch host classes while prices for using vCPUs and RAM are quoted in the Prices section.
You can select host class both for hosts with the Data node
role and hosts with the Master node
role.
The minimum billing unit is a minute (for example, 1.5 minutes of host usage cost the same as 2 minutes). You are not charged for time when the Elasticsearch host is not performing its main functions.
Disk space usage
You are charged for the following:
-
Storage allocated for clusters.
-
Storage taken up by backups over specified cluster storage.
-
Storing backups is free of charge as long as the total amount of data in a cluster together with all the backups stays under the selected storage size.
-
When performing automatic backups, Managed Service for Elasticsearch does not create a new copy but stores data changes with respect to the previous backup. This means that storage used by automatic backups increases only in proportion to the volume of changes that are made.
-
The number of hosts in the cluster does not affect the size of the storage or free backups.
-
The cost is specified for one month of use and is based on 720 hours per month. The minimum billing unit is 1 GB per minute (for example, storing 1 GB for 1.5 minutes costs the same as storing 1 GB for 2 minutes).
Example of cluster cost calculation
The cost of using a cluster with the following parameters for 30 days:
- Hosts with the
Data node
role: 3s2.micro
hosts: 2 × 100% vCPU, 8 GB RAM. - Hosts with the
Master node
role: 3s2.micro
hosts: 2 × 100% vCPU, 8 GB RAM. - Storage: 100 GB of HDD network storage.
Cost calculation:
3 × (2 × $0.013440 + 8 × $0.016800) + 3 × (2 × $0.013440 + 8 × $0.016800) = $0.967680
Total: $0.967680 is the cost per hour of operation for all hosts.
Where:
- 3 is the number of hosts.
- 2 is the number of vCPUs.
- $0.013440 is the cost of using 100% vCPU per hour.
- 8 is the amount of RAM per host (in GB).
- $0.016800 is the cost of using 1GB of RAM on 100% vCPU per hour.
720 × $0.967680 + 100 × $0.025600 = $699.289600
Total: $699.289600 is the cost of using the cluster for 30 days.
Where:
- 720: Number of hours in 30 days.
- Total: $0.967680 is the cost per hour of operation for all hosts.
- 100: Amount of HDD network storage (in GB).
- $0.025600 is the cost of using 1 GB of network HDD storage per month.
Pricing
All prices are shown without VAT.
The monthly usage rate is based on 720 hours a month.
Note
As of June 13, 2022, the Gold
edition in Managed Service for Elasticsearch clusters is no longer supported. You cannot create a new cluster with this edition or switch to it from Basic
or Platinum
. On July 6, 2022, all Gold
edition clusters were automatically upgraded to Platinum
at the same price through the end of 2022.
