Updating a container name

Written by
Yandex Cloud
    Management console
    CLI
    API
    Terraform
    1. In the management console, select the folder with your container.

    2. Select Serverless Containers.

    3. Select the container.

    4. Click Edit.

    5. Rename the container using the following format:

      • The length can be from 3 to 63 characters.
      • It may contain lowercase Latin letters, numbers, and hyphens.
      • The first character must be a letter. The last character can't be a hyphen.
    6. Click Save.

    If you don't have the Yandex Cloud command line interface yet, install and initialize it.

    The folder specified in the CLI profile is used by default. You can specify a different folder using the --folder-name or --folder-id parameter.

    To find out the name or unique ID of a container, get a list of containers in the folder.

    To rename the container, run this command:

    yc serverless container \
      --name <container_name> \
      --new-name <new_container_name>

    Result:

    id: flh7r96juaqq********
    folder_id: aoek6qrs8tjh********
    created_at: "2021-08-17T07:53:10.219Z"
    name: my-beta-container
    description: my beta container description
    url: https://flh7r96juaqq********.containers.cloud-preprod.yandex.net/
    status: ACTIVE

    You can update the container name using the update API method.

    With Terraform, you can quickly create a cloud infrastructure in Yandex Cloud and manage it by configuration files. They store the infrastructure description in HashiCorp Configuration Language (HCL). Terraform and its providers are distributed under the Mozilla Public License.

    For more information about the provider resources, see the documentation on the Terraform site or mirror site.

    If you change the configuration files, Terraform automatically determines which part of your configuration is already deployed and what should be added or removed.

    For more information about the Terraform, see the documentation.

    To update the name of a container created using Terraform:

    1. Open the Terraform configuration file and edit the name field value in the yandex_serverless_container resource description:

      ...
      resource "yandex_serverless_container" "test-container" {
        name               = "my-conrainer"
        description = "my first container with description"
        memory             = 256
        service_account_id = "ajec........34ova"
        image {
            url = "cr.yandex/yc/test-image:v1"
        }
      }
      ...

    For more information about the yandex_serverless_container resource in Terraform, see the provider documentation.

    1. Check the configuration using this command:

      terraform validate

      If the configuration is correct, the following message is returned:

      Success! The configuration is valid.

    2. Run this command:

      terraform plan

      The terminal will display a list of resources with parameters. No changes are made at this step. If the configuration contains any errors, Terraform will point them out.

    3. Apply the configuration changes:

      terraform apply

    4. Confirm the changes: type yes into the terminal and press Enter.

    You can verify the change to the container using the management console or the following CLI command:

    yc serverless container get <container_ID>|<container_name>
