Pricing rules for the Managed Service for YDB mode with dedicated instances
Pricing is applied differently depending on the cluster status:
- For a
Runningcluster, you are charged both for the computing resources and the size of storage and backup.
- For a
Stoppedcluster, you are only charged for the storage and backup size.
What goes into the cost of using Managed Service for YDB
When using Managed Service for YDB in dedicated mode, you pay for the following:
Other consumed resources to be additionally paid for:
- The space used in Yandex Object Storage to store on-demand backups.
- Egress traffic from Yandex Cloud.
In all calculations, 1 GB = 210 MB = 220 KB = 230 bytes.
Using computing resources
The cost is calculated for each hour of VM operation in accordance with its class. Exact class characteristics are given in Yandex Managed Service for YDB overview.
The minimum billing unit is one hour (for example, the cost of 1.5 hours of operation is the same as the cost of 2 hours of operation).
Disk space usage
The following is charged:
Storage allocated for DB storage groups.
Space used by on-demand DB backups saved in Object Storage.
For each DB, Managed Service for YDB automatically creates and stores two full backups for the last two days for free. No fee is charged for storing automatic backups.
The cost is specified for one month of use. The minimum billing unit is 1 GB per hour (for example, the cost of storing 1 GB for 1.5 hours is equal to the cost of storage for 2 hours).
Discount for committed volumes of services (CVoS)
You can get a guaranteed discount on Yandex Cloud resource usage when you plan for 6 months or 1 year ahead. To see the resources you can get a discount on:
- Go to Billing.
- Click on the desired billing account.
- Choose Commitments in the left-hand menu.
A CVoS guarantees a discount on usage, but doesn't guarantee the availability of the resources ordered. Read more about CVoS in the Billing documentation.
Managed Service for YDB provides two kinds of CVoS: on vCPUs and RAM on the hosts you plan to use in DB clusters. In the management console, you can see potential savings from using a CVoS at the current resource usage. You can also forecast your monthly payments for the desired number of vCPUs and RAM.
You currently can't order storage or web traffic this way.

Minimum group size
A single storage group can store up to 100 GB of user data. The minimum granularity of space allocation for a DB is one storage group.
To create on-demand backups in Managed Service for YDB, specify a bucket in Object Storage.
When using the service, you pay for traffic from Yandex Cloud to the internet. Traffic between Yandex Cloud services and incoming internet traffic are free of charge.
The first 100 GB of outgoing traffic are provided free of charge every month.
The minimum billing unit is 1 MB.
