Editing a list of VMs in a backup policy
Linking a VM to a backup policy
- In the management console
, select a folder in which to link a VM to a backup policy. - In the list of services, select Cloud Backup.
- Go to the
Backup policies tab. - Select the policy to link the VM to.
- Under Virtual machines, click
Attach VM.
If you do not have the Yandex Cloud command line interface yet, install and initialize it.
The folder specified in the CLI profile is used by default. You can specify a different folder using the --folder-name
or --folder-id
parameter.

View a description of the CLI command to link a VM to a backup policy:
yc backup policy apply --help

Get the ID of the policy to link the VM to:
yc backup policy list

Get the ID of the VM to link:
yc compute instance list

Link the VM by specifying its ID:
yc backup policy apply <policy_ID> \ --instance-ids <VM_IDs>
Where
--instance-ids
are the IDs of VMs to be linked to the backup policy. Multiple IDs should be comma-separated.

Use the apply REST API method for the Policy resource or the PolicyService/Apply gRPC API call.
Unlinking a VM from a backup policy
- In the management console
, select a folder in which to unlink a VM from a backup policy. - In the list of services, select Cloud Backup.
- Go to the
Backup policies tab. - Select the policy to unlink the VM from.
- Under Virtual machines, click
next to the VM to be unlinked from the policy and select Detach from policy.
If you do not have the Yandex Cloud command line interface yet, install and initialize it.
The folder specified in the CLI profile is used by default. You can specify a different folder using the --folder-name
or --folder-id
parameter.
